This weekend we will be celebrating Father's Day. In the US, Father's Day is observed on the third Sunday in June. While Father's Day was first celebrated in 1910 in Spokane, Washington, it did not catch on nearly as quickly as Mother's Day. President Woodrow Wilson attempted to make teh holiday official as early as 1916, but Congress resisted. Although the holiday was celebrated informally by many through the years, it was not until 1972 when Richard Nixon signed a bill designating Father's Day as a permanent holiday to be celebrated the third Sunday in June!
